Qualifying Examination
The qualifying examination in the subject of sport takes place once a year in the summer semester at the Institute for Sport and Sport Science at TU Dortmund University.
The qualifying examination will take place approximately in June 2025. You will find further information at the beginning of the year 2025.
The Athletic Department will organize intensive preparation days in advance. Further information will follow. Interested students can contact Lee Nordmeier (lee.nordmeiertu-dortmundde) for more information and to register.
The performance requirements for the qualifying examination in sports at TU Dortmund University are differentiated according to bachelor-teaching degree programs:
- Performance requirements according to GyGe, BK and HRSGe.
- Performance requirements according to G and SP
The qualifying examination is passed if the applicant has fulfilled the performance requirements in at least 7 of the 8 individual disciplines (throw, high jump, endurance run, floor, bar, vaulting horse, sports game technique, sports game tactics). The performance requirements listed are minimum standards. Unsatisfactory performance cannot be compensated by above-average performance in other sports or disciplines..
The successfully completed aptitude test for the teaching professions "Gymnasien und Gesamtschulen" (GyGe), "Berufskollegs" (BK) and "Haupt-, Real-, Sekundar- und Gesamtschulen" (HRSGe) also entitles the candidate to apply for the "Lehramt an Grundschulen" (G) and "Lehramt für sonderpädagogische Förderung" (SP). This does not apply the other way round: If you change your course of study from the teaching degree G or SP to one of the teaching degrees GyGe, BK or HRGe, you must successfully pass the aptitude test for these courses.
Recognition of aptitude tests from other universities
Evidence of aptitude for studying in the sports programs that has been obtained at other universities can be recognized if the examination results are comparable to the requirements of the Sports Institute of the TU Dortmund University. In North Rhine-Westphalia, this applies to the aptitude tests of the German Sport University Cologne and the Ruhr University Bochum. The recognition of successfully passed aptitude tests from other federal states is done after a case-by-case examination by the contact persons for the aptitude test at the TU Dortmund. Please contact them by email. The email should indicate which teaching profession you would like to apply for at TU Dortmund University and the requirements of the university to be examined (e.g. by means of a link to the current examination requirements of the respective universities). Only with this information can an individual check be made. To apply for recognition, simply submit a copy of the proof of suitability for studying in the sports programs of the other universities together with the completed application form below by mail or e-mail to the Sports Institute of the TU Dortmund by 14.08. at the latest. Afterwards, feedback will be given as to whether the successfully passed aptitude test from another university will be recognized in Dortmund. Only substitute certificates that are not older than 3 years will be considered !
Possibilities of compensation for disadvantages: If applicants can credibly demonstrate that they are unable to take the aptitude test in whole or in part in the intended form or within the intended time limit due to a long-term or permanent physical disability or chronic illness, the chairperson of the examination board will determine the other form or time limit in which the aptitude test is to be taken. As proof, the applicant must have been recognized by the competent authority as having a degree of disability (GdB). In case of doubt, the person or office responsible for questions concerning the interests of disabled students should be involved. The contact person at the Institute of Sport and Sport Science is David Walzik. The first contact with David Walzik as well as the application for disadvantage compensation must be made at least one month before the date of the sports aptitude test.
