Aims and contents of the degree programs in Physical Education

The bachelor's degree programs are designed to prepare students for the continuative master's degree programs in teaching and, at the same time, for work in various professional fields. The master's degree programs serve to specialize the scientific fundamentals for the selected teaching profession. Through the bachelor's and master's degree programs in the subject of physical education, students should acquire competencies in sports science, sports didactics and sports practice, in which reflections are integrated with regard to the requirements of the practice of school and extracurricular fields of sports. These competencies are acquired in the following three interrelated areas of study:

In the practical sports seminars of the first area of study, the focus is on didactic issues relating to the teaching of the above-mentioned forms of movement, games and sport, as well as the development of the participants' motor demonstration skills in a close theory-practice link. An examination of the phenomenon of "movement, games and sport" from the point of view of the six fields of sports science is the focus of the lectures and seminars of the second area of study, which is supported by different forms of organization and methodological approaches. In both fields of study, a close connection is always established to school-based, but also extracurricular fields of sports. The third area of study focuses on internships in various school and non-school professional fields of sports. They are prepared, accompanied and evaluated by courses. Instructional and research-based learning is the guiding principle.
