About the person
Research focus:
My research interests lie in deciphering and translating potential mechanisms of action underlying the beneficial effects of physical exercise in multiple sclerosis (MS). Primarily, I am interested in the effects of different acute and chronic physical stress on the MS-related dysregulation of the neuroimmunologically active tryptophan metabolism and their significance in terms of clinical relevance. In addition, I address the modulation of clinical and neuroimmunological effects of physical exercise by (patho-)physiological, socio-demographic and lifestyle factors. These include, for example, biological sex or the presence of obesity. In the future, these findings will lead the way for precise and personalized training decisions that take into account the individuality of persons with MS and thus have the potential of optimized training outcomes.
