06.-07.11.25 - The Department of Sport and Exercise Psychology invited doctoral students to participate in the exchange programme 'MKKFD' in Dortmund

On the 6th and 7th of November, the sports psychology team invited doctoral students, postdocs and professors from Münster, Cologne, Kassel and Frankfurt to Dortmund for the first time for this year's MKKFD. The MKKFD offers doctoral students in the fields of sports science and sports psychology the opportunity to present their dissertation projects and discuss research questions, ideas or methods with participants from the five locations.

In addition to 12 presentations by doctoral students, postdocs also had the opportunity to engage in joint discussions this year. Another highlight was the panel discussion, in which professors and postdocs shared and discussed their opinions, tips and experiences of working in the academic system. In addition, the exchange not only offered scientific added value, but also provided a great opportunity for further networking between the locations of Münster, Cologne, Kassel, Frankfurt and Dortmund, whether during the breaks between lectures, during sports or during the joint evening programme.

We had a lot of fun and are already looking forward to the next MKKFD in 2026!

16.–19.09.2025 – Prof. Dr. Dennis Dreiskämper and Annalena Veltmaat represent the Department of Sport and Exercise Psychology at the 2025 dvs University Conference

From September 16 to 19, a congress of the University of Münster took place on the occasion of the 27th Sports Science University Day of the German Association of Sport Science (dvs). Under the motto “Sports Science: Diversity and Sustainability!?”, participants gained exciting insights, engaged in interesting discussions, and enjoyed many great program highlights.

The Department of Sport Psychology at TU Dortmund also presented current research projects at the university day.

In addition to his role as chair, Prof. Dr. Dennis Dreiskämper presented longitudinal results from the Move for Health project on adolescents’ psychosocial health and sports club participation during the symposium “Representative Data on Physical Activity, Play, and Sport and Their Potential for Healthy Development in Childhood and Adolescence.” Together with Prof. Andrea Petroczi from Kingston University London, Dennis Dreiskämper also co-hosted a symposium on current trends and perspectives in anti-doping research. As part of this symposium, Annalena Veltmaat presented recent findings from a research project investigating athletes’ personal limits regarding the use of dietary supplements.

The conference provided an excellent opportunity to engage in scientific discourse and exchange ideas with fellow sport scientists.

Many thanks to the team at the University of Münster for the excellent organization and the successful congress!

29.05.2025 - Dennis Dreiskämper new Vice President and Managing Director of asp

At the general meeting of the Arbeitsgemeinschaft für Sportpsychologie (asp) on Ascension Day in Bochum, Prof. Dr. Dennis Dreiskämper was unanimously elected as the new Vice President of Finance (Managing Director) of the asp. It therefore has a special role in the theory-practice connection. The asp currently has around 600 members from science and practice in competitive sport. In addition to Jana Strahler and Dennis Dreiskämper, Barbara Halberschmidt (Münster, school sport), Svenja Wolf (Telahassee, Florida State, international and research), Moritz Anderten (Cologne, competitive sport), Petra Janssen (Regensburg, health) and Sascha Leisterer (Leipzig, young academics) were also unanimously elected to the Executive Committee as Vice Presidents for their respective areas of responsibility.

11.10.2024 - Move For Health in the Federal Government's 17th Report on Children and Young People

Every four years, the federal government publishes an action-guiding report by a commission of experts on the status of children and young people in Germany. In this legislative period, the Move For Health project (Dreiskämper et al., 2023; 2024), a project from the field of sport, was also included in the report with several contents and references. The central introductory chapter "Strengthening structures for the younger generation and developing them for the future" presents key findings from the project (p. 17). Illustrations and results from the project are also presented later on. This is a reference to the importance of the project, which is led by the Sports Psychology Department at TU Dortmund University (Prof. Dreiskämper).

10.09.2024 - Network meeting MKKF + DO

On September 10 and 11, around 25 researchers from the universities of Kassel, Frankfurt, DSHS Cologne and Dortmund met in Kassel for the 12th MKKF+Do network meeting. For the first time with the participation of TU Dortmund University, doctoral students from the participating research areas once again had the opportunity to present and discuss their research in detail in longer slots. MKKF+Do goes back to an initiative by doctoral students from Cologne and Münster in 2012. At that time, the doctoral students Rebecca Rienhoff, Dennis Dreiskämper, Martin Klämpfl and Svenja Wolf, together with Markus Raab and Bernd Strauß, initiated an annual exchange of ideas between the two research areas, which still exists today and has been expanded.

Gesundheitskasse AOK.

05.09.2024 - Move For Health 2.0 data collection completed

The aim of the continuation of the Move For Health project in 2024 is to repeat and expand the representative survey of children and young people with over 4,000 participants from 2023. In 2024, over 63% of the children from the previous year and over 71% of the young people from the previous year were included in the survey again. In addition, the sample was again increased to over
4,000 participants. The results will be presented towards the end of the year. Since 01.09.24, TU Dortmund University has also been involved in the project with Prof. Dreiskämper as overall project manager and Annalena Veltmaat as a member of staff. The results of Move For Health 1.0 from 2023 will be published in an anthology by Springerverlag towards the end of the year. In addition, a special issue of Forum Kinder- und Jugendsport, the scientific journal of the German Sports Youth, will be published in October.
