The academic community of Ruhr-Universität Bochum, TU Dortmund University and the University of Duisburg-Essen forms the University Alliance Ruhr (UAR), which embodies innovation, excellence and a lively partnership in research, teaching and administration.

The Junior Research Group eHealth and Sports Analytics at the Department of Sport Science at Ruhr University Bochum and the Research Group Data Analytics in Sport Science at TU Dortmund University are pleased to announce that they will host Mr. Alireza Sameh (M.Sc.) from Finland for a three-month research stay.

Mr. Sameh is affiliated with the Research Unit of Health Sciences and Technology at the Department of Medicine, University of Oulu, Finland. His stay is planned for the period from October 2025 to December 2025. He received his Master of Science in Engineering from Amirkabir University of Technology, Iran. His research interests lie in the application of artificial intelligence in the field of digital health, especially in the discovery and validation of digital phenotypes and digital biomarkers for mental health analysis. He uses AI-based methods to analyze movement behavior and sleep patterns captured by wearable technologies for screening and predictive modeling of mental health in adults.

The aim of the research stay is to share expertise on digital biomarkers measured by wearables and their relevance to mental health, including symptoms of depression and anxiety. A key objective is to collaborate on the transformation of raw data of movement behavior from wearables into meaningful characteristics and insights that can support mental health research.

The research groups of Prof. Dr. Markus Reichert (Ruhr University Bochum) and Jun.-Prof. Dr. Vahid Farrahi (TU Dortmund University) share common research interests that complement Mr. Sameh's expertise and create an excellent basis for collaboration. It is expected that this research stay will further strengthen their partnership and promote the exchange of innovative ideas. Prof. Dr. Markus Reichert, Jun.-Prof. Dr. Vahid Farrahi and their teams are delighted to welcome Mr. Sameh to their respective research groups and look forward to a productive and successful collaboration.
