Directions

Coming from the south (A1-Cologne, A45-Frankfurt)

Change from the A1 at Westhofener Kreuz to the A45 in the direction of Dortmund. Follow the A45 until you reach the Do-Eichlinghofen exit. Leave the freeway there and then turn right onto Universitätsstraße. As a right-turning vehicle, you have your own lane there. Stay in this lane and drive straight ahead through a traffic light intersection. Take the second left into Meitner Weg. There is a large parking lot on the right. It is best to park as far back as possible (row1). From the parking lot, a small path (in the corner that is not on any street) leads to the sports building. This path first runs a short distance parallel to the railroad line and then bridges it to the right.

Coming from the west (A40-Bochum/Düsseldorf, A42/A45-Oberhausen/Duisburg)

From the freeway junction Dortmund-West follow the A40 (=B1) towards Dortmund and take the next exit Do-Dorstfeld/Universität and turn left onto Hauert. At the second traffic light turn left again into Otto-Hahn-Straße. Follow this street until you see the large parking lot on the right side. If possible, park very far in front (row 1). From the parking lot, a small path (in the corner that is not on a street) leads to the sports building. This path first runs a short distance parallel to the railroad line and then bridges it to the right.

Approach from the north and east (A1-Bremen, A2-Hannover, A44-Kassel)

The direct extension of the A44 from the Unna interchange is the B1, which leads past Dortmund city center. Follow the B1 until the exit Do-Dorstfeld/Universität. After leaving the B1, turn right into Hauert (in the direction of the university). At the third traffic light turn into Otto-Hahn-Straße. Follow this street until you see the large parking lot on the right side. If possible, park very far in front (row 1). From the parking lot, a small path (in the corner that is not on a street) leads to the sports building. This path first runs parallel to the railroad line for a short distance and then bridges it to the right.

The TU Dortmund has its own S-Bahn station ("Dortmund Universität") on the North Campus. From there, the S-Bahn line S1 runs every 20 or 30 minutes to Dortmund main station and in the opposite direction to Düsseldorf main station via the "Düsseldorf Flughafen" station. This makes the university directly accessible from the cities of Bochum, Essen, Mülheim an der Ruhr and Duisburg. From downtown Dortmund, you can also get to the Technical University by bus, subway or streetcar by taking subway lines 41, 45, 47 or 49 from the main train station to the "Stadtgarten" stop, from there take the U42 to the "An der Palmweide" stop and ultimately change to buses 468 or 447 to the "Dortmund Universität S" stop. Another option would be to take the above-mentioned subway lines from Dortmund Central Station to the stop "Dortmund Kampstraße" (one stop), from there take the streetcar 403 to the stop "Dortmund Wittener Straße" and continue with the bus 447 to the stop "Dortmund Universität S". Individual timetable information for local public transport is also available on the homepage of the Verkehrsverbund Rhein-Ruhr(www.vrr.de).

Dortmund has an airport(www.flughafen-dortmund.de), which is connected with the most important destinations in Germany and Europe. There are regular flights, for example, to Berlin, Budapest, Dresden, Katowice, Krakow, Leipzig-Halle, London, Milan, Munich, Nuremberg, Paris, Prague, Rome, Stuttgart, Warsaw, Vienna or Zurich. Many of these connections are offered by low-cost airlines at reasonable prices. To get from the airport to the campus, it is recommended to take the "Airport Express" to Dortmund Central Station, where you can board the S-Bahn (you can get your individual timetable at www.vrr.de). The journey time is 41 minutes. A wider range of international flight connections is offered by Düsseldorf Airport(www.duesseldorf-international.de), which is about 60 kilometers away and can be reached directly by S-Bahn from the university station. As a rule, however, you can get to Düsseldorf Airport more quickly if you first take the S-Bahn to Dortmund Central Station and then a faster connection to the "Düsseldorf-Flughafen" station (for example, a regional express).
